Recently attended one of the stand-ups at PJLA in Jaya One by Douglas Lim, Kuah Jenhan and Phoon Chi Ho.
Some of the many aethetic design they have over there

Thanks to Jeun Yan, who had been posting up their spoofs on his facebook, I get to know about this event. I thought, it would be nice to have a good laugh prior to Chinese New Year.

Somehow, I got to agree with MACC that most Chinese New Year advertisement are stereotyped. Stories would usually have the same plot about saddening-family-togetherness story. But we all Chinese know that New Year isn't only about all this. There are many more, it's about new beginning, a new cycle, prosperity and many more (happy stuffs).

And so the question is, why it has to only advertisements about chinese new year/any other celebrations in general deal with all these sad emotions? For an example, remember the Merdeka advertisement they show an Indian woman who fight with her Malay friend and then many years later end up finding out the friend is dead? It's Merdeka, and why it has to do with misery and death, and worst, promoting racial grief.

Don't these will eventually lead us to think that celebrations are always bad and sad. No wonder we hear our friends these days complain about how Chinese new year songs give then headaches. Tell me about classical conditioning....

Sometimes, though it's funny to laugh over, but come to think of it, it's true. They also did brought up some issues on are our racial getting more and more sensitive about the remarks from others? I'm not trying to comment about our racial issue here in Malaysia, not to mention that I don't read newspaper, but sometimes we should see things more lightly especially bad remarks for others. When you see things from the other POV, perhaps it's no longer bad, or even better - laughable. Minimize racial issues and magnify racial harmony and unity is what should leaders who believe in country peace do. But it seems it's the other way round these days, don't they? Somehow, I think politician create more of these issues than

This stand up was actually a sequel to their previous Internal Affairs last year which they claimed had almost all the tickets sold out.

Likewise, this year, all the nice seats were all taken a week prior to their show, and both Elizabeth and I ended up sitting separately.

I must tell you, though we were sitting at the side, we did enjoy every bits of the. It's witty/political/insightful and funny Kudos you trio! Look forward for more.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! MAY YOU HAVE A PROSPEROUS AND AUSPICIOUS CHINESE NEW YEAR!
